We are pleased to welcome the Athens Gate Hotel to the growing family of companies that actively support animal welfare, choosing to supply only cage-free eggs.
Any company that stops supplying cage eggs and adopts a cage-free policy, directly affects the welfare of the hens, reducing the number of those raised in cages. Our goal at Cage-Free Greece is the complete abolition of cage farming, as a practice unacceptable cruelty to animals and incompatible with the principles of sustainability and the moral values of modern Greek companies.
The messages of cage free Greece touch our concern, as consumers, about how the food of animal origin is produced that reaches our plate, and our indignation, as humans, about the way the productive animals are raised.
The announcement of the cage-free policy of the Athens Gate Hotel is of double importance to us. Not only because a large Athenian hotel responds to our arguments and incorporates animal welfare into its corporate values, but also because this hotel hosted, in 2018, the meeting in which we decided to create a working group for the defense of chickens, of the most vulnerable production animals.
