Athens Gate Hotel joins the Cage-Free network

We are delighted to welcome the Athens Gate Hotel to the growing network of businesses in Greece that are taking a stand for animal welfare by committing to source only cage-free eggs.

Every business that moves away from cage eggs and adopts a Cage-Free policy plays a direct role in improving the lives of laying hens by reducing the number of those raised in cages. At Cage-Free Greece, our mission is to help bring an end to cage farming, a practice that is not only cruel and outdated, but also fundamentally at odds with sustainability and the ethical values embraced by modern Greek businesses.

The principles behind Cage-Free Greece reflect a dual concern: as consumers, we care about how the animal-based foods we eat are produced, and as human beings, we are outraged by the suffering endured by farm animals in intensive systems.

The Athens Gate Hotel’s decision to adopt a cage-free egg policy holds special meaning for us, not only because another respected Athenian hotel is now prioritizing animal welfare, but also because this particular hotel hosted the meeting in 2018 where we decided to create a working group to defend chickens, the most vulnerable farm animals.
